Eiffel Scholarship required documents for 2027: Campus France asks for 7 documents in a master’s file and 12 in a PhD file. The list is the same at every French university. Your university may add a few items of its own, and its internal deadline comes first. The earliest one we found is 29 October 2026.

You don’t send these documents to Campus France yourself. You give them to your French university, and it uploads your file by 6 January 2027. See how universities choose their Eiffel candidates.

Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Required Documents

Here is the list of all the documents that are needed for the Eiffel Scholarship 2027 for both Master’s and PhD applicants.

Required Documents for Master's

  • A copy of your passport or ID card (the page with your name and date of birth)
  • CV, 2 pages maximum, in French or English
  • Your latest degree certificates, plus proof of your rank or awards
  • A language certificate, only if your programme asks for one
  • Transcripts for the last three years
  • Professional project, 1 to 2 pages, in French or English
  • The signed candidate pledge (a Campus France form)

Required Documents for PhD

  1. Thesis project, 5 pages maximum, in French or English
  2. An expert’s opinion on your thesis topic
  3. The expert’s CV, 2 pages maximum
  4. A funding plan for the whole thesis
  5. A cotutelle agreement or co-direction certificate (only for 12- or 18-month awards)

Your French supervisor, lab director and doctoral school director also add their opinions. The university collects those, not you.

Check You Are Eligible First

Don’t spend weeks on documents if any of these is true:

  • You were refused Eiffel before at the same level and were not on the reserve list.
  • You want a master’s award, and you are already studying in France.
  • You hold French nationality.
  • You are over the age limit: 29 for a master’s, 35 for a PhD.
  • Your programme is outside the seven Eiffel fields, is taught online, or is a work-study programme.

The full rules are in our Eiffel Excellence Scholarship 2027 guide.

How to Prepare Each Document

1. Passport or ID Copy

Copy the page with your surname, first name, and date of birth. Your university types your name exactly as it appears in the coded lines at the bottom of your passport page. Use that same spelling on every document, and write dates as DD/MM/YYYY.

No valid passport yet? An ID card copy is accepted at this stage. If you win, you will need a passport for the visa, so apply for one early.

2. CV (2 Pages Maximum)

  • Write it in French or English.
  • List every university or college since school, with start and end month and year.
  • Add internships and jobs linked to your programme.
  • Explain any gap in one line. The jury’s score sheet takes points off for an unexplained delay in your studies.

3. Degree Certificates and Proof of Rank

Send your latest degrees with the date, subject and grade. Add anything that proves excellence, such as a class rank certificate, a medal or a merit scholarship letter. Your academic record is worth 18 of the 40 points in a master’s file and 14 of 40 in a PhD file.

Give your grades context, because the jury may not know your university’s grading:

  • Weak: “CGPA 3.4/4.0”
  • Strong: “CGPA 3.4/4.0, ranked 5th of 112 students (rank certificate attached).”

4. Language Certificate (Only If Needed)

Campus France sets no fixed test or score. The language questions in the form are optional and are not scored. You only need the level your programme asks for: English for an English-taught programme, French for a French-taught one.

5. Transcripts

Campus France asks for transcripts from the last three years, whether you studied in France or abroad. Some universities want more. Paris-Saclay asks for transcripts for every year since you started higher education.

6. Professional Project (1 to 2 Pages)

This is the Eiffel version of a motivation letter. Write it in French or, if you can’t, in English. In a master’s file, it scores 4 points, and the logic of your study path scores 5 more.

A simple plan:

  1. Where you are now: your degree and one result you are proud of.
  2. Why this programme: name one course, lab or specialisation.
  3. Why France: what this programme gives you that you can’t get at home.
  4. Your job after the degree: a specific role and sector.
  5. What you will do with it in your country or your field.

You can add an opinion from someone outside your university, such as an employer.

7. Signed Candidate Pledge

Download the 2027 “Déclaration et engagement du candidat” form, fill it in, and sign it. By signing, you accept the rules for French government scholarship holders. Your university sends it with your file.

Extra Documents for a PhD

  • Thesis Project (5 Pages Maximum)

Write it in French or English. Explain your topic, objectives and hypotheses, what is new about it, and its impact. It is worth 8 of the 40 points.

  • Expert Opinion: Who Can Write It

Every PhD file needs a written, reasoned opinion on your thesis topic. The expert must:

  • be a university professor or research director, or hold an HDR or equivalent;
  • work outside the French university that submits your file;
  • work in the same field as your thesis;
  • never have worked or published with your future supervisor or their research unit;
  • not come from your home university or home country, and not share your nationality.

So a Pakistani student cannot use a Pakistani professor, even one who works abroad. Attach the expert’s CV, 2 pages maximum. A longer CV is ignored.

  • Funding Plan

Show how the whole thesis will be paid for, including any months Eiffel does not cover. Paris-Saclay gives a template on its Eiffel page.

  • Cotutelle or Co-direction Document

You need this for a 12- or 18-month award. It is signed by the French and foreign sides and shows when you will be in each country. A 36-month award does not need one.

How to Format and Submit Your Documents

  • Open your university’s Eiffel page. Note its internal deadline and its method: a form, an email, or a portal.
  • Make each document a PDF. Merge files if asked. Paris-Saclay wants one PDF per category for PhD files.
  • Send everything before the internal deadline. Université Paris Cité closes first, on 29 October 2026. See all the university deadlines we checked.
  • Wait for the internal answer. If you are chosen, the university uploads your file. Final results come in the week of 12 April 2027.

Common Mistakes

  • Forgetting the signed candidate pledge.
  • Sending only last year’s transcript. Campus France wants three years.
  • A CV longer than 2 pages.
  • Choosing an expert who has worked with your supervisor or shares your nationality.
  • Following another university’s checklist instead of your own university’s page.
  • Waiting for 6 January 2027. That is the university’s deadline, not yours.

Frequently Asked Questions About Eiffel Scholarship 2027

For a master’s: a passport or ID copy, a CV of 2 pages maximum, your latest degrees with proof of rank, a language certificate if needed, transcripts for the last three years, a 1- to 2-page professional project, and the signed candidate pledge. A PhD file adds a thesis project, an expert opinion, the expert’s CV, a funding plan, and, for 12- or 18-month awards, a cotutelle or co-direction document.

No. You send them to your French university before its internal deadline. The university uploads your file to Campus France by 6 January 2027.

They are not on Campus France’s official list. Some universities ask for them in their own round. Paris-Saclay lets you add one from someone outside your university.

Your CV, professional project, and thesis project must be in French or English. For degrees and transcripts in other languages, follow your university’s rules.

A professor, research director, or HDR holder in your field who works outside the French university that submits you. They must not have worked with your future supervisor, and they must not be from your home university or country, or share your nationality.

Transcripts for the last three years. Some universities, such as Paris-Saclay, ask for transcripts from every year since you started higher education.

The Campus France jury decides on your written file. Your university’s internal round may have its own steps, so read its Eiffel page.
